Food jams

Rotating 6-bowl tray, not a kibble dispenser; it takes all food types. Debris in the food tray can cause the 'device abnormal' warning. A badly fitted control board misaligns the bowl.

How to reset it

Wi-Fi reset: unlock the display, then long-press the centre (O) button for 10 seconds.

What a reset erases: Wi-Fi connection; the manual doesn't say whether meal plans are kept.

No separate full factory reset is described.

Setting it up

  1. Charge the built-in battery with the Type-C cable and a 5 V 1 A or 2 A adapter, and turn on the switch on the bottom.
  2. For wet food, freeze the two ice packs lying flat at about -18 C for at least 6 hours. Pull up the ring lock on the back, lift the top lid and fit the frozen packs.
  3. Set the storage tray in the base, fill the bowls (about 85-90 g each; slot 0 is the exposed first meal), then close and lock the top lid.
  4. Hold the < and > buttons together 3 seconds to unlock the display.
  5. Install the Smart Life app, turn on phone Bluetooth, sign in and add the feeder (it may be auto-discovered) on a 2.4 GHz-only network. Keep it on the adapter while using the app.
  6. Add up to 5 meal plans in the app (the exposed slot can't be scheduled) and pick days of the week.

Cleaning

Twist the central control board clockwise to remove it. Everything except the control board is washable, and the manual's pictograms show sponge and dishwasher allowed, metal scourers not. Wipe the control board with a soft damp cloth only; it isn't waterproof and must not be washed. Refit it anticlockwise until it clicks. Keep the charging port dry and let it dry fully before charging.

Power and batteries

Built-in 1800 mAh rechargeable battery (cordless), charged via Type-C at 5 V 1/2 A. Wi-Fi/app only works while the adapter is plugged in; on battery the Wi-Fi light is off and the app shows the feeder offline. Fully charge before storing it more than 6 months.

Wi-Fi and the app

2.4 GHz Wi-Fi only (5 GHz or mixed-band networks aren't suitable), via the Smart Life app with Bluetooth. Wi-Fi works only on adapter power.

Warranty

12 months per iPettie's warranty/returns page (from the earlier spec check). The manual itself states no warranty.
