Food jams

Dry food only, kibble 5/8 in or smaller (product page: 2-15 mm), in standard shapes. No wet, semi-moist, raw, dehydrated or oddly shaped food. To clear or clean, empty the bin, twist the anti-clog dispenser anticlockwise to remove it, wash it in warm soapy water, dry it fully and twist it back on.

How to reset it

Short-press Lock to unlock the buttons, then hold the Wi-Fi button 5 seconds until the red light flashes and the 'Wi-Fi Reset' icon shows. This both resets Wi-Fi settings and puts the feeder into pairing mode.

What a reset erases: Wi-Fi settings. The manual says unpairing a pet in the app doesn't delete its data, so to clear a previous pet's data you reset the feeder and then pair the new chip.

No separate full factory-reset procedure is published.

Setting it up

  1. Place it against a wall near an outlet (avoid walls with dense wiring behind them, which can disturb the chip reader), bowl facing out, and keep multiple feeders at least 3 ft apart.
  2. Plug the cable into the power port under the feeder; optionally fit 4 D batteries as emergency backup. Insert the bowl and keep tagged or chipped pets at least 3 ft away during setup.
  3. Fill the bin with one type of dry kibble, 5/8 in or smaller (product page: 2-15 mm), without passing the fill line.
  4. Install the PawsPik app and tap Add Device. On the feeder, short-press Lock, then hold the Wi-Fi button 5 seconds until the red light flashes. Select the feeder and join the same Wi-Fi network as your phone.
  5. In the app go to Paired Pet, then Pair a Pet. Hold the pet's head inside the feeder frame until the microchip registers (ISO 11784/11785, 134.2 kHz chips only), or hold the PawsPik tag inside the frame.
  6. Choose Open, Closed or Free Feeding mode. PawsPik suggests starting in Open Mode and moving to Closed Mode while the pet gets used to the door.

Cleaning

Unplug and empty the food first. The stainless bowl is dishwasher-safe (top rack, normal cycle). The anti-clog dispenser can be submerged in warm soapy water. Wipe the food container inside with a damp cloth and mild soap. Never immerse the LED screen, control panel or feeder base. Apart from the steel bowl, don't expose parts to water hotter than 165 F. Clean the door tracks and rubber seals regularly with the door open. Replace the desiccant every 30 days; the app runs a timer.

Power and batteries

Mains adapter (DC 9 V 1 A output, 100-240 V AC input), plus 4 D batteries as backup (not included). On batteries, scheduled feedings continue, but the buttons and RFID/microchip recognition are disabled (product page: app also unavailable). Backup lasts up to 3 days. PawsPik says not to rely on batteries alone.

Wi-Fi and the app

Wi-Fi via the PawsPik app; the feeder must join the same network as the phone during setup. The Wi-Fi band is not stated, and PawsPik doesn't say what happens to schedules if Wi-Fi drops.

Warranty

2-year limited, non-transferable PawsPik warranty from purchase date (repair or replace). Claims go to support@pawspik.com and may need proof of purchase, photos or video.
