Food jams

Dry food 12 mm or smaller; freeze-dried 9 mm or smaller. Only pet food should go in the hopper. The manual has no specific jam-clearing steps beyond removing the vanes and impeller to clean.

Setting it up

  1. On a level surface, lower the hopper so its notches meet the PUSH buttons and press until locked.
  2. Optionally fit 5 alkaline AAA batteries under the base first (unscrew the cover). Then turn the feeder over, remove the two rear anti-slip pads, slot in the stand marked BACK and click the FRONT stand onto the front buckle.
  3. Stand it upright, fit the bowl and plug in the adapter.
  4. Press the lid release, put the desiccant in its compartment and add dry food (12 mm or smaller; freeze-dried 9 mm or smaller) up to the MAX line.
  5. In the PETKIT app tap '+' and add 'YumShare Solo 2 with Camera'. Hold the Wi-Fi setup button 5 seconds until the light flashes quickly, then enter Wi-Fi details (2.4 GHz and 5 GHz both supported). Set feeding plans.

Cleaning

Take out the desiccant and bowl. Hold the PUSH buttons and lift the hopper off, pull out the vanes, then turn the impeller cover clockwise and remove the impeller. Wash the hopper, vanes, cover, impeller, lid and bowl with a little detergent, rinse and dry fully. Use a soft sponge inside the hopper to protect the sensor. Wipe the main unit and stands with a soft cloth or damp tissue and never immerse the main unit. No dishwasher statement.

Power and batteries

6 V 2 A adapter plus 5 alkaline AAA batteries as backup (not included; alkaline only). In battery mode the camera indicator is off. The earlier spec check recorded PETKIT saying the camera stops on batteries and backup lasts about 14 days, and that the product page FAQ conflicts on battery type (mentions D batteries). PETKIT's help centre confirms a YumShare Solo keeps dispensing on schedule in battery mode (5 AAA, sold separately).

Wi-Fi and the app

2.4 GHz and 5 GHz Wi-Fi (PETKIT app). With the camera off, feeding plans still run. Full video playback needs the paid PETKIT Care+ cloud service. PETKIT's help centre says feeders keep running a preset schedule when offline or without Wi-Fi (general article, not model-specific).

Warranty

2 years for US purchases from 2025-01-01 (per the earlier spec check of PETKIT's warranty page). Support: support@petkit.com.
