Feeding records marked 'unknown' in the appMeals happened while the feeder was offline (power cut on batteries, or internet down).Restore power or internet. Only up to 10 offline feeding records sync back, and the schedule can't be changed while offline.
Portions smaller or unevenPortions are measured by volume (about 10 g each) and shrink when the container runs low.Keep enough food in the container and adjust the portion setting in the app.
Wi-Fi light constantly on but won't connect to Wi-FiThe help centre links this to a faulty power adapter.Unplug the adapter and run on batteries. If the problem goes away, replace the adapter; under warranty, email support@petkit.com with the serial number, invoice and store.

Food jams

Dry food or freeze-dried pellets under 12 mm only; the manual includes a 0-12 mm size check chart. Nothing but dry pet food should go in the container. If the container won't lock back on after cleaning, turn the dispenser paddles until the PUSH buttons snap into the notches.

Setting it up

  1. With the food container empty, unscrew the battery cover and fit 5 alkaline AAA batteries as backup (bought separately), then screw the cover back on.
  2. Plug the power cord into the port under the main unit.
  3. On a level surface, hold both PUSH buttons and lower the food container so its round notches click onto them. Put the steel bowl in its stand.
  4. Open the lid, lay the desiccant flat in its compartment, add dry food no bigger than 12 mm up to the MAX line, then close the lid.
  5. Install the PETKIT app, register, add the Fresh Element SOLO and set a feeding schedule.

Cleaning

Open the lid and take out the desiccant. Press one PUSH button, tilt the container and slide it off, then remove the bowl. Wash the food container (including the silicone dispenser paddles), lid and steel bowl with a little soap, rinse and dry fully before refitting. The main unit must not get wet. The manual doesn't mention dishwashers or a desiccant schedule.

Power and batteries

USB 5 V 1 A power (current US page: adapter not included; the 2022 manual lists a 6 V adapter in the box) plus 5 alkaline AAA batteries as backup, bought separately. The product page comparison table gives about 7 days of backup. In a power cut it switches to batteries and keeps feeding, but the app can't reach it. With no batteries fitted it stops until power returns.

Wi-Fi and the app

2.4 GHz Wi-Fi only (product page FAQ). If the internet or router drops, the feeder keeps feeding on its stored schedule (manual, product page FAQ, help centre). The app can't track it, offline meals show as 'unknown' (max 10 records sync later), and schedules can't be edited while offline.

Warranty

1-year limited in the US (the Solo isn't on PETKIT's 2-year upgrade list, per the earlier spec check). Support: support@petkit.com, +1 (888) 851-2770 (9am-12pm and 1-6pm CST daily), contact form at petkit.com/pages/contact-us.
