Food jams

Dry food 12 mm or smaller; freeze-dried 9 mm or smaller. Only dry pet food should go in the hopper. The manual has no jam-clearing steps beyond taking out the vanes and impeller to clean.

Setting it up

  1. On a level surface, lower the hopper so its side notches line up with the PUSH buttons and press until they lock, then set the bowl in its holder.
  2. Plug the adapter cord into the power input on the back. Optionally unscrew the battery cover and fit 5 alkaline AAA batteries as backup.
  3. Press the lid release, lift the lid, put the desiccant in its compartment and add dry food (12 mm or smaller; freeze-dried 9 mm or smaller) up to the MAX line.
  4. In the PETKIT app tap '+' and add 'YumShare Solo with Camera'. Hold the Wi-Fi setup button 5 seconds until the light flashes quickly, then enter 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi details (5 GHz isn't supported).
  5. Set feeding plans in the app and read the in-app usage guidelines.

Cleaning

Take out the desiccant and bowl. Hold both PUSH buttons and lift the hopper off, pull out the dispensing vanes, then turn the impeller cover clockwise to remove it and the impeller. Wash the hopper, vanes, cover, impeller, lid and bowl with a little detergent, rinse and dry fully. Use a sponge or soft cloth inside the hopper so the sensor isn't scratched. Never soak or immerse the main unit; wipe it with a damp tissue. No dishwasher statement.

Power and batteries

6 V 2 A adapter plus 5 alkaline AAA batteries as backup (bought separately; alkaline only). The indicator light is off in battery mode. Replace batteries before leaving it unattended for long. The earlier spec check recorded that the camera stops on batteries for this product family. PETKIT's help centre confirms a YumShare Solo keeps dispensing on schedule in battery mode (5 AAA, sold separately).

Wi-Fi and the app

2.4 GHz Wi-Fi only (PETKIT app). The camera can be switched off and feeding plans still run. Full clip playback needs the paid PETKIT Care+ cloud service. PETKIT's help centre says feeders keep running a preset schedule when offline or without Wi-Fi (general article, not model-specific).

Warranty

Per the earlier spec check of PETKIT's US warranty page: 1-year limited, raised to 2 years for YumShare Solo models bought in the US from 2025-01-01.
