Food jams

Not applicable: there is no hopper or dispenser. The only stated mechanical issue is a lid that won't close because of food debris or an overfilled bowl.

How to reset it

Hold the Add Pet button for 10 seconds until the light alternates red/green and the lid opens and closes.

What a reset erases: Learnt pets (microchips/tags); Sure Petcare says to re-learn your pet(s) afterwards. Learnt chips otherwise stay in memory even with the batteries out.

Sure Petcare suggests a factory reset if the wrong pet was learnt or as a last step when the feeder isn't working.

Setting it up

  1. Take off the mat, turn the feeder over, remove the battery covers and fit 4 x 1.5 V alkaline C cells (no rechargeables), matching the +/- marks.
  2. Hand-wash the bowl and mat, put some food or treats in the bowl and place the feeder where your pet normally eats.
  3. Press Add Pet on the back. The lid opens and the light flashes green once a second. When the pet puts its head through the hoop and eats, the light stays green, meaning the chip is learnt. Keep other pets away, and repeat for up to 32 pets (or use the included collar tag).
  4. Training Part 1: leave the lid open with no movement for a couple of days until the pet is relaxed.
  5. Training Part 2: with the lid closed, press the Training button. The lid opens and the light flashes orange once. Each later press closes the lid further (2, then 3, then 4 orange flashes). The final press closes it fully and the light stops flashing (normal mode). Hold Training 5 seconds to leave training at any time.
  6. Set the lid-close delay slider under the feeder: I for short (stops food stealing), II default, III for long (for nervous pets).

Cleaning

Never put the whole feeder in water, under a tap or in a dishwasher. Bowls and mat are hand-wash only (no dishwasher or microwave) to protect the bowl seal. To remove the lid, slide the lock to unlocked, press open/close, then pull the lid up from the back. Hand-wash it (not dishwasher-safe). Wipe the body with a damp cloth or household wipes, keeping the four black dots on the hoop clean. Change food daily. There is no desiccant.

Power and batteries

Batteries only: 4 x 1.5 V alkaline C (LR14) cells, not included; no mains option and no rechargeables. Learnt pets stay stored when batteries are removed. Remove batteries if the feeder will be stored for a long time.

Wi-Fi and the app

None on this model, and no timer: it only controls access, not meal times. The separate Microchip Pet Feeder Connect version links to the Sure Petcare app through a Hub (sold separately).
