VOLUAS Smart Feeder for 2 Pets: fixes, reset and setup
Lights, beeps and error messages
| What you see or hear | What it means | What to do |
|---|---|---|
| Buttons don't respond | Panel is locked (auto-locks when idle), or there's no power if the display is off. | Press LOCK to unlock; if the display is off, check the adapter connection and batteries. |
| No food dispensed | Empty tank, a meal set to 0 portions, wrong kibble size, no power, or a blockage. | Check food is loaded, the meal has more than 0 portions, kibble is 2-10 mm, and power. If blocked, disconnect all power, remove the tank and clear it. |
| Display dim or unclear, irregular operation | Power supply issue or weak batteries. | Check the adapter and cable connections; replace all three D batteries if using them. |
| Low-battery indicator on screen | Backup batteries are low. | Replace all three D alkaline batteries. |
| Amount dispensed varies | Portions are a dispenser setting, not a fixed weight, and vary with kibble size, shape and density. | Use suitable dry kibble, check for blockages and low batteries, and weigh several test portions to work out the average. |
| Scheduled meal missed | Clock or schedule set wrong, empty tank, or no power. | Check the clock, meal time and portion setting, food level and power, then test a scheduled feed. |
Food jams
Dry kibble 2-10 mm (0.08-0.39 in) only; no wet, canned or moist food. To clear a blockage, disconnect all power, lift the tank off (press the buckles on both sides) and clear the outlet before reassembling. The silicone rotor is sold as a spare part (VLR009). FAQ: wet, semi-moist, sticky or oily food can clog the dispenser; remove stuck kibble from the chute and clean the dispensing area before testing again.
Setting it up
- Unpack the two bowls and bowl holders from inside the tank. Hand-wash the tank, lid and bowls first and dry everything; keep the base dry.
- Fit both bowl holders and stainless bowls. Take the outer wrapper off the desiccant (leave the inner packet sealed) and put it in the holder under the lid.
- Fill with dry kibble 2-10 mm and close the lid securely.
- Connect the USB cable and 5 V adapter to a wall socket. Optionally fit 3 alkaline D batteries in the base for backup, and check the LCD lights up.
- Press LOCK to unlock, then press SET to step through clock hour and minute, then each meal's hour, minute and portions (meals 1-4, 1-40 portions; 0 disables a meal). Hold SET to return to standby.
- Optional: hold MIC about 2 seconds until it beeps, speak (up to 10 s) and release to save a meal call. Run a manual FEED and watch a scheduled meal before leaving the feeder alone.
Cleaning
Unplug, remove the batteries, empty the tank and take out the bowl and desiccant. Hand-wash the tank, lid and steel bowl in cool or warm soapy water; VOLUAS says not to use a dishwasher. Wipe the base and control panel with a slightly damp cloth, never rinse or immerse the base, and keep water out of the outlet. Dry fully, then refit and test. Replace the desiccant every 15 days. (The general FAQ suggests changing desiccant about every 4 weeks; the model guide says every 15 days.)
Power and batteries
5 V DC adapter via USB cable (100-240 V AC input), plus 3 alkaline D batteries as backup (not included). Replace all three when the low-battery icon shows. Remove them for long storage. The FAQ says correctly fitted batteries keep the feeder working in a power cut, but to check the clock and schedule after an outage or battery change because settings may not be kept. Don't mix old and new batteries.
Wi-Fi and the app
None (LCD and buttons).
